As Presiding Trustee of the FaithFutures Foundation, I am privileged to serve in the company of a most remarkable people of trust, zeal and love.
I live in Valley Ford, California with my wife Danielle, a realtor who helps people buy and sell houses in San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma counties. We are happy to share our lives with 10 remarkable couples, our kids and their spouses, and 13 grandchildren.
I was ordained as Episcopal priest 50 years ago.
In my first career I served the Church as Curate in an affluent suburb, Vicar in a small mill village, as Canon of Newark (NJ) Cathedral, as director of a Central Business District action research project, and as Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis (IN).
My second career began in politics as a state campaign director and moved to the field of human resource and organizational development. I worked with individuals, families, schools, social service agencies, as well as with retail, manufacturing, sales and service businesses.
My third career was back in the church as Rector of a Cantonese speaking congregation, as Missioner of the Diocese of California supporting 23 congregations and, lastly, rebuilding a moribund San Francisco parish into a thriving progressive congregation.
I attribute my failure to convert congregations to Jesusâ program and mission to my attempts to stay within the system.
My present mission is to convince others that the key to a fulfilled life lies in a community devoted to the wisdom of the Historical Jesus.
I believe that the Galilean sage called Jesus incarnated the trust, the honesty, and the courage to face the days of his life, in his own time and culture, with the unremitting justice of generosity and love.
I believe that the imitation of Jesus is the most powerful way to learn trust, honesty, courage and love and so to live in joyous abundance.
I am the author of Jesus Circles: a Way to Heal our Wounds, Subvert the Domination System, and Build an Abundant Future.
