Be better prepared for Sunday worship with this weekly email service from FaithFutures Foundation that provides brief notes on the following Sunday's readings, drawing on contemporary critical scholarship in biblical studies and related fields.


The notes are designed to provide a focus for people wanting to work with the texts in advance of the following Sunday service. They are especially suitable for ..

  • anyone involved in preparation for worship as part of their spiritual discipline
  • choristers, lay ministers, musicians, preachers, readers
  • individual reflection
  • informal groups in parish and cell group settings

The notes are based on readings from the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL).

The notes are prepared by Greg Jenks, Executive Trustee of the FaithFutures Foundation. Greg has a PhD from the Department of Studies in Religion at the University of Queensland, awarded for his research into the origins and early development of the Antichrist myth. He is a biblical scholar with a special interest in Christian origins and has taught in various locations around Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney), as well as Canada, Jerusalem and the United States. He is a Fellow of the Jesus Seminar and was Associate Director of the Westar Institute from 1999 to 2001. Greg also serves as Director of Academic Development for the SnowStar Institute of Religion in Canada. He has a passionate interest in a just resolution to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, and is President of Friends of Sabeel Australia Inc.
