A Man Had a Fig Tree

Expressions of hope
in the simple practice of plant care,
And from experience
the gardener dares the future,
For It is possible to
anticipate life's emergence from apparent death.
She has seen it!

But even hope has its boundaries,
one year of time to produce a miracle.
Still, no small amount of energy
will be expended throughout 365 days.
But without figs on the tree,
is crucifixion the only option,
Isn't 'no stone left on another' enough?

Is there no other way
to see tender branch beginnings,
the nearness of summer,
the excitement at the gates!

Surprise! The 'I-Thou' temple emerges from the rubble!
