Texts

1) Thom 91:1-2

They said to him, "Tell us who you are so that we may believe in you." 2 He said to them, "You examine the face of heaven and earth, but you have not come to know the one who is in your presence, and you do not know how to examine the present moment."

No copies of this portion of Thomas survive in Greek. For the Coptic version see [Early Christian Writings]

(2a) 2Q: Luke 12:54-56

He also said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, 'It is going to rain'; and so it happens. 55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be scorching heat'; and it happens. 56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

= Matt 16:2-3

He answered them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' 3 And in the morning, 'It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times."

(2b)GNaz 13

What is marked with an asterisk (i.e., Matthew 16:2-3) is not found in other manuscripts, also it is not found in the Jewish Gospel. (Variant to Matthew 16:2-3 in the “Zion Gospel” edition.) [Sayings Parallels]

(Nazarene 1:13 AGOSP-T)

(3?) John 6:30

So they said to him, "What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing?"
